March Newsletter

Good morning!

It feels like spring has finally sprung and new life is around the corner! We hope that you have continued to keep well during the pandemic and are looking forward to reunions with loved ones soon.

Sad News from the farm

Unfortunately, due to being an amputee, Martin continues to have problems with his legs and his arthritis has become progressively worse. Looking after the pigs is hard, physical work and as much as he loves it, the time has come for him to slow down and look after himself a bit better.
We stopped breeding our pigs late last year and have decided that when our stock of pigs has gone, we will return to being a family smallholding and close the shop. It is a very sad time for us but Martin’s health must come first. We have loved our little shop and given it a good go but it isn’t practical to carry it on any longer.

We will open on a weekly basis on Fridays and Saturdays 9:00-13:00 as usual, up until 22nd May. This will be our last opening day.

Good News going forward!

Friends of ours in Ainsworth have bought some of our breeding stock, including Hugo the boar and will continue to breed old spots and saddlebacks on their farm! They also rear lamb, and Ruth makes her own chutneys and goat’s cheese and it promises to be a lovely little farm shop with much easier access than ours. We are helping them to set up the shop and you will probably see Martin around there helping out from time to time! We are giving them the secret recipe to our lovely sausages so you will still be able to buy them, don’t panic! If all goes to plan, they should be up and running before the summer. Watch this space for more details closer to the time.

Business as usual for now!

WE ARE OPEN UNTIL THE END OF MAY SO PLEASE DON’T DESERT US YET!!
